HUGH HYSELL (President) is a Tony Award ® winning Broadway producer and award winning marketer. His Broadway producing projects include Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike (Tony Award ® and Off Broadway Alliance Award for Best Play), Peter and the Starcatcher (winner of 5 Tony Awards), and Impressionism. Off Broadway, he has produced, conceived and directed The All-Male Importance of Being Earnest, Y-2-Gay The Musical and Seamen The Sailor Musical. As President of HHC Marketing, he served as marketing director of over 200 Broadway and Off Broadway shows. Hugh is proud to have launched the blast services division for Tekbyte Inc, whose website BroadwayBox.com is a discount portal that led the industry in online direst response sales for Broadway shows and beyond. In 2004 Hugh launched TheMenEvent.com as a response to the declining LGBT presence within Times Square, and within a year of the launch, TheMenEvent.com held one of the largest GLBT email lists in NYC. Since its launch, TheMenEvent has created hundreds of gay-specific events in NYC including networking parties, speed dating, theatre outings, yacht trips and the very popular Post-Pride LGBT Party and Showing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (where Hysell serves as a member of the Multi Cultural Diversity Action Committee). In 2008 Hysell launched Teams on Broadway, a street team company specializing in driving same day ticket sales for Broadway Shows. After closing HHC Marketing in 2013, He served as Director of Marketing and Development for NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. He currently leads the National Broadway and Live Arts division for Groupon where he has successfully increased revenue quarter over quarter since joining the company in 2014. He serves on the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Multicultural Diversity Action Committee and is an associate professor at Columbia University where he teaches graduate MFA Theatre Management students about Marketing and Promotions for Live Entertainment. He has also lectured at NYU, Manhattan Marymount College, Hunter College, University of Florida, Out Professionals, and the Commercial Theatre Institute. Prior to his career as marketer and producer, he enjoyed a successful career as an actor and performed in all 50 states and a lot of Canada. In 2013 Hugh returned to the stage with My Big Gay Italian Wedding/ My Big Gay Italian Funeral, and currently performs Off Broadway in Perfect Crime (NYC’s longest running play). He has provided pro bono services to Broadway Cares Equity Fights Aids, HRC, GLAAD and The Commercial Theatre Institute. Hugh is a founding member of The Off-Broadway Alliance and nominator for its OBA Awards.
